The Body-Centered Imagination
- A first overview
For
the purpose of a better understanding and the possibility of a
comparison of the procedure of the Body-Centered Imagination
with Carl Jung’s Active Imagination, i.e., to show the
difference between the activities of the Logos ego and the
Eros ego, I will now anticipate the results of the below
following derivation of the imagination method proposed by me,
and thus present my conclusions here.
As I have mentioned earlier, during the process
I call the Body-Centered Imagination the Eros ego represses
thinking consciously. Like this it relates to the Eros Self
with the help of the introverted feeling and sensation
function, sometimes backed by intuition.
The necessary condition for the observation act
of the Eros consciousness is thus the conscious repression of
thinking. Thus, we get the following situation:
In alchemical terms we can describe the
conscious repression of thinking with the help of the myth of
the king entering the womb of the queen. This means that the
consciousness applies the insight that it has to perform the
same process as the one that happens in the unus mundus during
the unio corporalis, the
coniunctio or the
Holy Wedding. In other words, during the Body-Centered
Imagination the “king of thinking” has to enter the “womb”,
i.e., the belly, and like this sacrifices itself: The thinking
function “dissolves” into its “atoms”. Like this the
“seeds” for a new life coming out of the belly are created.
The dramatic effect of such a change – of
course the modern version of the inclusion of the Hermetic
alchemical caput corvi,
the Raven’s Head, of the head of Osiris or of the Ethiopian
described above – is that the split between the realm of the
spirit-psyche and the matter-psyche is reversed. In the
symbolic language of the alchemists we could say that the
Heaven comes down to the intermediate sphere, where it can
meet with the earth coming up, and the couple can procreate
and conceive the new child as a result of the unio
corporalis.
One of the most important features of the Holy
Wedding is the so-called exchange of attributes: The masculine
part, the king, becomes feminine, the feminine part, the queen,
becomes masculine. Experience shows that the Eros
consciousness is able to observe exactly such exchanges during
the process of the Body-Centered Imagination.
Summarizing we can say that we get the
following very interesting result: If the Logos ego transforms
consciously into the Eros ego, i.e., consciously suffers the
death of the thinking function as the “king” and thus enters into the womb
of the queen, it gets the chance to observe the similar
transformation in the unus mundus. This transformation is
described as the exchange of the attributes, and the latter is
observable in one’s own belly. Like this the Eros ego
follows the modern variant of the Hermetic alchemical unio
corporalis or Holy Wedding.
We will later see that we can describe the
exchange of attributes as a transformation of spirit-psyche
into matter-psyche. This process is accompanied by a second
one, the re-transformation of the matter-psyche into
spirit-psyche of a higher negentropy. Like this out of the
double trinity, the Seal of Solomon or the unus mundus
representing the potentiality of the energetical double
transformation, some sort of a new life is created, the infans
solaris or the red tincture. Alchemy called this second
goal of the unio
corporalis also the quintessence, and modern science has discovered the extraverted variant of
this process as the
natural radioactive decay. The latter
corresponds to unique spontaneous quantum leaps in the outer
world that have their complement, as I will show below, in
unique spontaneous quantum leaps observable in one’s own
inside.
Wolfgang
Pauli must have had a half-conscious hunch about these
connections, because he compared the alchemical red tincture
with radioactivity. Both are characterized by the fact that
they possess the ability of a so-called multiplicatio, a multiplication,
which is a further attribute of the coniunctio.
In radioactivity such a multiplicatio
is obvious as radiation;
the alchemical red tincture seems however to possess a „radiation“
on the deeper, psychophysical level. Thus, if the hypothesis
is true that the artificial radioactive decay produced in
atomic blasts and in nuclear plants is equivalent to the red
tincture of alchemy,
it could have effects in man and in the whole universe, in the
microcosm as well as in the macrocosm, no one expects up until
today.
